30 Inspiring Baby Nursery Ideas for a Boy

I recommend starting the planning process just as soon as you find out the gender, or if you are not finding out the gender you can start as early as you like! It takes time to develop your theme, find the right furniture, paint your space, and pull it all together. I always like to choose items that can grow with my kids as they age. I sourced our classic drum ceiling light from Lamps Plus, who has been my go to for most of the lighting in our home.

You may choose themes such as the sea, mountains, or outer space. Avoid restricting colors to blue and gray, and go for shades that will make the room appear brighter and more spacious. Whatever design you may opt for, make sure it reflects your love for your child.

Natural Browns

Keeping your furniture white with an accent in the wallpaper creates an inviting look without being too overwhelming. Creating a large mural on a single wall is a great way to add character to a room. For instance, in my son’s room, as he got older we opted for a rainforest-themed mural with lots of animals. Take our crib, for instance, where we have opted for a single color of white. You could also use any other color, such as black, gray, or blue.

There are many fun ways to incorporate this shade without resorting to painting the walls all one color. Nurseries are one of the best places to try out an idea you love, but haven't had the guts to implement. Both these things and more can be tested and flawlessly pulled off in a baby's room. I love the gallery wall of botanical prints that we hung above the crib. This continues the natural elements in my nursery theme, and we framed all the art with Frame Bridge. To go along with my theme, I added baskets that double as storage for toys, books, and blankets.

Add interest with wallpaper

In the nursery below from Amber Interiors, there is plenty of natural light, midcentury modern furniture, and a beautiful traditional rug. Give a nod to decades past with a vintage feel in your baby nursery. You can opt for midcentury modern or turn-of-the-century as your inspiration.

Mix blue and gray for a versatile scheme

There is no denying that cribs can sometimes be big and bulky, and without the right decor, they can definitely stick out like a sore thumb in a room. You might want to install a dimmer switch to adjust the light level depending on the time of day. During nighttime feeds, you’ll be happy you went with this feature. If vintage is your jam, incorporate vintage maps, distressed wood, boats, and old globes. Or go a more modern route with clean lines, compasses, and planes.
